Fancy yarns are used mainly for the production of clothing but there are also applications in home textiles (upholstery fabrics, curtain fabrics, drapes). Fancy yarns are spatially modified compared to standard yarns. They are produced both in the spun version (mainly in RING and worsted systems) as well as in the continuous filament version (modifications of DTY textured yarns and FDY yarns).

We distinguish the following types of fancy yarns:

Fancy yarns in a continuous filament version (modifications of DTY textured yarns and FDY yarns)

- melange - a combination of two different colors in one polymer or two different polymers (effect of melange after dyeing) by pneumatic intermingling

- mouline - a combination of two different colors in one polymer or two different polymers (effect of melange after dyeing) by mechanical twisting or braiding of both components

- chenille - spun yarn consisting of a core and the effect of sheared yarn on the core

- boucle - spun yarn consisting of a core and the effect of bunches entwined on the core

- KDK -  knit-de-knit yarn, which is formed in the following way - first knitted fabric is produced, then it is thermally stabilized then the knitted fabric is pushed and wound on the bobbin. Using this process we obtain a yarn with the effect of "cloves"

- thin-thick - the yarn is thickened and thinned by pulling POY unevenly, which results in the effect of thick and thin strokes on the product

-linen-like - yarn is thickened and thinned by means of uneven twisting so that the final product has visible thick and thin strokes

Fancy yarns in the fiber spun version (mainly RING and worsted systems)

 - melange - a combination of two different colors of the same raw material or different raw materials

- chenille - spun yarn consisting of a core and the effect of sheared yarn on the core

- boucle - spun yarn consisting of a core and the effect of bunches entwined on the core

- slub - the yarn is thickened and thinned by means of uneven extraction of the roving during spinning, so that the effect of thick and thin strokes is visible on the product

- mouline - combination of two different colors or different raw materials by mechanical twisting or braiding of both components

- siro grindle A / B - production of the SIRO RING  yarn in such a way that one roving has the color or properties of A and the second roving has the color or properties of B, resulting in a very similar effect to mouline

- neps - about 1 - 5% of very thick fibers are added to the base fibers, giving a ‘neps’ effect on the finished knitted fabric / fabric

-injections A/B – in the process of spinning the B thickening is added to the A roving; in practice the A roving can be raw-white, melange or full color, the B thickening can also be raw-white, mélange or full color; the length of thicknesses in this case may be shaped freely

- snow - the effect of fine-grained neps on the knitted fabric

-flake- the effect of coarse-grained neps on the knitted fabric
